Creativity Saturday: “Creativity is a haunted house, you have to walk through it to find the treasure.”

Not every creative idea comes with a friendly welcome mat. Sometimes you have to wander through a few dark halls before you find the thing that makes your heart jump. Today’s treasure? A Ghost Garland — equal parts spooky and charming, perfect for stringing across bookshelves or windows.

You’ll Need

  • White tissue paper or fabric scraps
  • Cotton balls or polyfill
  • String or twine
  • Black felt-tip marker
  • Scissors & tape or hot glue

Instructions

  1. Make Your Ghosts: Place a cotton ball in the center of the fabric/tissue and gather it up to form a head.
  2. Tie it Off: Use a small piece of string or twist tie to secure the “neck.”
  3. Give it a Face: Use a black marker to add tiny, haunted eyes.
  4. String the Spirits: Attach each ghost to your main length of twine with tape or glue, spacing them evenly.

Why I Love This DIY

It’s quick, delightfully eerie, and looks good all year round for us spooky-season-365 people. Plus, it’s kid-friendly and almost impossible to mess up.
